We've been watching reruns on A&E...earlier seasons..Shayna(?) Alexander is in the shows. Last week there was a show where they went to Clarksburg WV. I grew up there and recently moved back to WV. What writer knows so much about WV? They mention locations like Lake Floyd and Jarvisville that only a local or ex-pat would know. Then, tonight, they're in Smokey Corners WV. I told my husband they made that up but he said no, they're setting it in the eastern part of the state where there are a lot of people named Sikes. I still cringe at the stereotype. I'm college educated and use proper grammar. The show about Clarksburg wasn't too bad but Smokey Corners touched on all that is negative about WV. Come to Morgantown WV and attend a WVU football or basketball game and rub shoulders with all the non-stereotypical people there. Many of us don't have accents like the Smokey Corners people did. We're quite good people down here. Love the show.

Smokey cornors, wv was a fictional community that the Mc Coys from the old tv show The real Mc Coys came from. A family fued divided the land and so on in the show. That is were they got this refrence and town name from. I am a WV Gal as well!! The show was before my time but we grew up watching reruns my whole life lol. You should try to find it you would enjoy and learn how they got this reference.
