I think Palmer is. He tries really hard to please Ducky and I think he wants to be like Ducky when he 'grows up'

I vote Palmer coz I never met 'Gerard' - damn not seeing season 1. I shall get the DVDs!!

Gerald was just there.... he wasnt like Palmer and like the biggest Ducky fan ever but he was funny at times. I still like Palmer more

I really liked Gerald! He was cool, in that he knew how to deal with Ducky (headphones, earplugs, preemptive stuff) hehe. He was cool.
But I do love Palmer. His geekiness, how he is slowly turning into Ducky... and that scene with Abs and the superglue, lmao

I prefer Palmer. It really bugged me when Gerald ignored Duky.
I also think that Palmer is adorable, in that he's growing into a "Ducky". He's so curious and is always trying to please. I think he's far better suited as Ducky's helper, and that he is inteligent and well-meaning.
And there's that time when Ducky said something like "You're quite rare, Mr. Palmer." (season 1, don't remember which ep.)
I think that's high praise coming from the doctor, and that Palmer will go far.
Not to say that Gerald isn't smart, he just didn't seem to stive to be attentive to Ducky like Palmer does. He didn't seem to want to soke up as much knowledge as possible.
Just my two cents though.

After watching season 1 - Palmer is still better, for all those ^ reasons. But Gerald was funny. ;D Like when he was a sort of test subject thing for Ducky to use to demonstrate something to Gibbs, I can't remember but he did something that made me crack up. hehehe.

While I liked Gerald, I think Palmer is definitely the better "Ducky Helper", because he's more attentive to Ducky. Palmer seems to enjoy listening to Ducky's stories and to want to emulate him for the most part.
I didn't always like the preemptive stuff that Gerald did, because I like Ducky's stories and tidbits. I think it's cool how Ducky always seems to have a story or some interesting fact ready. I've actually started doing that- someone will say something, and I'll respond with a story I read. I read a lot, so I often can think of something in the news, a magazine, or a book I read that relates to something.
